THERAPEUTIC MODALITIES
Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes, kneading, friction, traction, shaking and compression. It is helpful in reducing pain, muscle contractures and joint stiffness. It improves circulation and engages the parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system.
Gentle Therapies are an effective alternative to Deep Tissue. This technique combines pin-and-stretch, trigger point, polarity, neuro-muscular technique, shiatsu, energy healing and muscle energy techniques. The client provides feedback to ensure their comfort level. "No Pain, No Gain" does not apply to massage therapy. It takes literally a few seconds more to release the points while taking client comfort into consideration.
Shiatsu is a therapy developed in Asia and has been in continual use for thousands of years. Pressure is applied with thumbs, fingers and palms to the same points that acupuncturists use. The treatment addresses the mind, body, spirit connection and has been effective in treating the physical expression of emotional imbalance such as upset stomach, headache, and constipation. A massage table, not a floormat, is utilized here. Treatment can be combined with Swedish muscle releases and energy-healing for a delightful and lasting effect.
Myofascial release is a gentle way to break up fascial restrictions which occur around scars, surgeries and injuries. The result is reduced pain and increased range of motion. Fascia is a soft tissue similar to a spider web which wraps every cell, every fiber, every organ and every bone in your body.
Cupping assists the body to release achy muscles and fascial adhesions by lifting the tissue (as opposed to compressions). Silicone cups or vacuum glass cups are used in this office. Clients on blood thinners or who bruise easily are not recommended to this therapy.
Deep Tissue is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface muscles. It is normal to feel a bit of an ache next day but it's comparable to what you feel after a hard workout at the gym...nothing a hot shower won't fix....then, the following day, you will experience increased ease and better range of motion.
Reiki is an energy healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel chi (lifeforce) into the client to activate the natural healing processes of the body and restore physical and emotional well-being. Bleu Andersen is a second-level Reiki practitioner. This modality can be offered hands-free or combined with Swedish session.
Vibratory Healing is also an energy-healing technique which taps into the Source of All Being. Bleu is certified as a vibratory healer by the Yogananda Institute. This modality can be offered hands-free or combined with Swedish session.
Hands-Free energy healing, (using Reiki or Vibratory Healing) is especially beneficial for pets, preemies or fragile conditions such as a hospice, torn muscle, trauma or broken bone.
Intention
While not a ‘modality’, much of the inexplicable difference here at Hands of Bleu is *Clear Intentions*.
Studies at the HeartMath Institute have shown that Individuals specially trained in generating deep acceptance and appreciation have been shown to effect changes in DNA. The work of Masaru Emoto has shown that broadcast emotion has a significant effect upon the structure of water molecules. (As you know, our bodies are predominantly water.)
To illustrate I will tell you a story about how, while approaching my school one day, I saw an instructor anxiously looking under an SUV and circling around repeatedly. She said there was an injured baby bird underneath which she was trying to rescue. I knelt down to see the wee sibling. Sure enough, as my instructor would kneel on one side of the vehicle, the bird would hop the other way making capture impossible. I placed my hands 6 inches apart on the ground and put all my focus on one simple idea and then spoke it aloud: "I am here to help". The baby bird looked at me, hopped between my hands and remained still while I closed my hands around him. Then he began to panic. Again I focused on one simple idea: "You are safe." He stopped struggling and I placed him in the box that would transport him to proper care. The instructor was amazed.
During your session, you can be sure I am focused and "*listening*" to the body's tissues, the soul's emotions and tiny changes in atmosphere so that I might be sincerely intentional whether the unspoken message be "you can let this go", "you are safe", "you are supported", "you are strong" or simply "I am here to help".
